Otis E. “Bud” Martin, Jr., 67, of Nederland, passed away on Monday May 4, 2015 in Port Arthur. Bud was a 59 year resident of the Golden Triangle Area coming from Utica, Mississippi. He was born on December 8, 1947 in Jackson, Mississippi to his parents Otis Edward Martin, Sr. and Loyce Williams Martin who preceded him in death. Also preceding him in death were his Father-In-Law Charles Johnston, sister Ann Canova and one niece and one nephew. Bud was a member of Triangle Baptist Church. He was a member of the Viet Nam Tankers Association, the Port Arthur V.F.W. and the Nederland American Legion. Bud was known as being a beloved husband, father, friend, man and marine. During his spare time he watched Nascar, loved fishing, hunting, woodworking, cooking, and was especially skilled at dog training.
Mr. Martin worked as a machinist for Ameripol-Synpol. Bud also was a United States Marine Corps veteran serving as a Tanker in Viet Nam where he obtained numerous medals.
Bud is survived by his loving wife of forty-four years, Carolyn S. Martin of Nederland, two daughters, Shanna Vega and husband Roberto of Pt. Neches, Trinia Greene and husband Steven of Kingsland, Georgia, three sisters, Jane Cook of Owasso, Oklahoma, Fran Mason of Owasso, Oklahoma, and Glenda Bulot of New Orleans, Louisiana. He is also survived by four grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday May 9, 2015 at 2:00P.M.
at the Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Beaumont. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warriors Project in Bud’s honor.
