He was born to Norman Luya Stewart and Gladys Royal Stewart in Wallasey, England. He had two brothers, Alan and Neville, and one sister, Rae. All have preceded him in death.
He came from England to America in 1948 to live with his sister Rae and her husband Harry Lopries in Garwood, Texas. He became a naturalized American citizen on September 27, 1955 while serving in the army.
In 1956, he met and married Helen Sutton. They had three children, Mark, Diane, and Sabrina. Norman is preceded in death by his two daughters, Diane Stewart and Sabrina Ellison.
Norman is survived by his son, Mark Duncan Stewart and his wife Betty. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Jennifer Huff and husband Clay, Seth Stewart and wife Monique, Joel Stewart and wife Tiffany, Megan Hirko and husband Jason, and Brianna Fenstemaker and husband Kevin. He also has eighteen great grandchildren, as well as numerous relatives and friends.
In 2002, Norman married Jeannie Cappen. They had twenty years together. Jeannie preceded him in death. He is also survived his stepdaughter, Aleta, and his stepson Wayne and wife Linda. He is survived by his step-grandchildren, Seth Cappen and wife Allison, Shawn Cappen, Shannon Porter and husband Christian, Kimberly Leask and husband Lance, eleven grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren.
Norman worked as a superintendent at Interlake Steel Company in Chicago, Illinois. In 1978, Norman moved to Lumberton, Texas, where he started P&S Siding and spent many years as a builder and carpenter. He loved the Lord and was a deacon at Calvary Baptist Church in Harvey, Illinois, as well as at New Hope Baptist Church and Bible Baptist Church in Silsbee, Texas.
A Celebration of Life for Norman will be held Sunday, March 26, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 4955 Pine Street, Beaumont, Texas 77703.
