Maria Govea

Maria was born on May 31, 1918 to Juan and Concepcion Govea in Mexico City, Mexico D.F. She owned and operated a grocery store in Mexico. She moved here 31 years ago. Maria married Enrique Ballesterous. She loved nature, planting flowers, bird watching, crocheting and doing crafts. She was a very determined woman. She volunteered for the Salvation Army and donated much of her time to various Outreach Ministries with La Iglesias Apostolica Church.

Maria was preceded in death by her husband; parents; a sister, Soleda Govea and a brother, Antonio Govea.

She is survived by a daughter, Socorro Iglesias and her husband Felipe of Beaumont; 2 grandsons; 5 great great grandsons; 6 great great granddaughters; 8 great great great grandsons and 9 great great great granddaughters.

A gathering of family and friends will be held Monday, October 18, 2010 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in the Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel.

Funeral Services are scheduled for 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 19, 2010 in the Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
