Helen Molly Guidry, 80, a fifty-four year resident of Sour Lake, passed away on Monday July 11, 2016 at her residence in Sour Lake. Helen was born on January 7, 1936 in Beaumont, Texas to her parents Charlie and T.V. Graham Matula who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, John “Buddy” Matula and Charlie Matula. She was Methodist and a fifty plus year member of the First United Methodist Church of Sour Lake. Helen grew up in Beaumont and was a graduate of the 1954 class from South Park High School. She worked alongside her husband as Office Manager for his business known as G & W Sheetrock. Helen loved traveling, going to flea markets, car shows, sewing, and especially enjoyed family gatherings.
Surviving Helen are her loving husband of sixty plus years, E.C Guidry of Sour Lake, two sons, Larry Guidry and wife Shirley of Sour Lake, Floyd Jilek-Guidry and husband Tony of St. Paul Minnesota, two daughters, Diana Guidry Fregia and husband Roger of Sour Lake, Sharon Guidry Pace and husband Paul of Sour Lake, sister-in-law, Brigitte Sieglohr Valenciano and husband David, ten grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren, one great- great grandchild, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday July 13, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at Forest Lawn Funeral Home. A celebration of Helen’s life will be held on Thursday July 14, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at the Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel in Beaumont with Judy Kelfstrom CLM officiating. Burial will follow at Rosedale Cemetery in Sour Lake. Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Sour Lake 615 Hwy 105 W (next to City Hall) or P.O. Box 446 Sour Lake, Texas, 77659 in memory of Helen Molly Guidry.
