Donald G. Abshier Sr.

Donald G. Abshier Sr., age 91, of Lumberton, Texas passed away on Tuesday, October 1, 2024 surrounded by his loving family. Don was born on January 23, 1933 in Beaumont to Emma Skelton and George Abshier.

Don was a long time member of First Christian Church in Beaumont. Don was baptized in 1945. He enjoyed chauffeuring the senior adults around on their excursions and worship services. Don retired from Mobil Oil in 1993. He worked in the B & P plant. Don was a 1953 graduate of Beaumont High School. He served in the United States Army during the Korean war 1953-1955. He was stationed at Mildenhall, England in the 82nd Chemical Corp. Don loved playing golf, worshiping God, coaching Little League Baseball and most of all traveling through the beautiful United States

Don is survived by the love of his life and wife of 65 years Ann Abshier; children, Donnie Abshier (Laura), Julie Boothman, Debbie Lyons (Larry) and Danny Abshier (Deena); his loving grandchildren, Michael, Matthew, & Nathan Abshier, Lauren Huelsman, Kristen Bittle, Justin Lyons, Maura Almonte and Taylor Abshier; 10 great grandchildren and one more on the way.

A celebration of life for Donald will be held Saturday, October 5, 2024 at 10:00 AM at First Christian Church, 5290 N. Caldwood Drive, Beaumont, Texas 77707. The family will receive friends starting at 9:00 AM at the Church. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
