November 11, 1938 – July 01, 2024
Dale Caywood was born in Beaumont Texas on November 11, 1938 on Veteran’s Day to Myrtle and Lloyd Alexander Huey. She was named after her father’s dad, Billy Bob, and her mother’s favorite cartoon character Flash Gordon’s girlfriend, Dale. She was an amazing person and a wonderful wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and great grandmother.
Dale loved her daughters and her daughters truly loved her. What can daughters say about their mother? This could be a really long obituary because our mother loved her family. First and foremost, she loved God with her whole heart and was a faithful servant. She made sure she instilled her belief in God into all her generations to come.
Our mother made sure each of us girls developed many of her character traits including making family memories that would forever be engraved in our hearts. Christmas time was one of her favorite occasions for making memories, just be sure to bring a pocket knife to cut through all the scotch tape she used on the presents she wrapped (without a pocket knife you couldn’t possibly open a present. An experience and memory every member of her family has and will miss every Christmas to come).
Dale was a twirler in the band and a Graduate of South Park High School in 1957. She was proud to be a Lifetime Member of the Order of Eastern Star serving for 67 years at Beaumont Chapter 71. She was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Daughters of the Nile, and when her twins were young, she also belonged to a mother twin’s club.
Early in her career, Dale worked at First National Bank as a teller and retired from the State of Texas after 20 years’ service at Beaumont State Center. She was raised attending Methodist Churches but moved to a non-denominational church attending Christian Fellowship of Beaumont. She briefly attended Lamar University and she became a huge supporter and fan of Lamar Basketball attending home games for many years with her Husband, Sidney. Her love for sports didn’t end there. She loved her Dallas Cowboys, Texans, and Houston Astros. Her hobbies included doing Word Search books and shopping with her daughters.
Dale had a big caring heart and was known for her thoughtfulness, especially for nonprofit organizations. She faithfully donated to countless organizations, too many to possibly list. If anyone ever did something for her, no matter how small, you could bank on receiving a handwritten thank you note in your mailbox in a few days.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Myrtle Norris Pickett husband BF Pickett and Lloyd Alexander Huey and wife Jimmie Huey, Husband of 61 years Sidney Maurice Caywood and her two son-in-law’s Mark Phillips and Charlie Sistrunk. She is survived by her children: Patricia Sistrunk, Debra Buckalew and husband Bobby, Della Phillips and Kathleen Douglas and husband Dr. Mark Douglas, Sr. Grandchildren: Bobby Buckalew Jr wife Shannon, Amber Stager, Dr. Mark Douglas Jr wife Hollind, Patrick Douglas wife Sarah, Dwain Buckalew wife Michelle, Christopher Phillips and wife Amanda, and Casey Sistrunk wife Chelsea. 14 Great grandchildren: Brenden, Braelyn, Blaycie, Adelie, Raine, Braden, Brooklynn, Annabelle, Willow, Tilly, Olivia, Owen, Oliver, Kit, and 3 great-great grandchild, Violet, Emorie and Theo.
