Mrs. Hayes was born on January 16, 1933 in Possum Trott, Alabama to her parents Leonard and Agaitha Henderson Smith, who preceded her in death.
Also preceding her in death were her step-mother; Claudia Smith, husband; Curtis H. Hayes, three sons; Curtis L. Hayes, Roy D. Hayes, Michael H. Hayes, brother; Gornell Smith, and sister; Mable Pemberton. During her working years she faithfully worked in the cafeteria at Pietzsch Elementary for the South Park Independent School District. Carrol was a Baptist by faith and at her home she enjoyed gardening, doing embroidery, quilting, and loved to watch vintage black and white cowboy movies mainly ones with John Wayne in them. Some of the best times she really cherished was spending time with all the family at the various holiday times of the year which was always made doubly special because her faithful loving dog companion Scottie was there as well.
Surviving Mrs. Hayes are her sons; Cecil Hayes and wife Misty of Vidor, Jerry Hayes and wife LaQuita of Douglasville, Georgia, daughter; Carolyn Bailey and husband Dennis of Beaumont, daughter-in law; Loretta Hayes of Vidor, daughter-in-law; Alice Hayes of Beaumont, brother; Roy Houston and wife Charlotte of North Little Rock, Arkansas, twelve grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at Forest Lawn Funeral Home in Beaumont on Friday September 16, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.
A celebration of Mrs. Hayes’s life will be held on Saturday September 17, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at the Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Beaumont.
