Katie Lee Blaylock

Katie Lee Blaylock, 94, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, October 19th. Katie Lee Ray was born in Panola County, Mississippi along with her identical twin Margie Rea Ray, who preceded her in death. She lived in Mississippi until 1945 when she married Melvyn Burkett and they had one child Lyle. They moved to San Diego, California in 1953. When Melvyn passed away after a long illness she moved to Garden Grove, California where she subsequently married William Blaylock. They moved to Sun Lakes in 1989 and she resided there since that time. William passed away in 1996. In 2011 she met a wonderful companion in Marvin "Bud" Nyswonger and they remained close friends until his passing. Katie lived a full life enjoying many friends, neighbors and family. She is survived by Son Lyle (Kathy), Daughter-in-Law Jo Michelle and beloved Granddaughter Lisa, brother Jack Ray (Shirley) of Sardis, MS, Virginia Taylor of Memphis, TN as well as many nieces and nephews. Services will be held at Weaver Mortuary in Beaumont at 1:00PM on Wednesday, October 28th. Interment will be at Ft. Rosecrans National Cemetery in San Diego the following day, October 29th at 2:00PM. In lieu of flowers, donations to the United Methodist Church of Banning, CA are suggested.
