John is survived by his granddaughter, Caitlin Carter of North Carolina and three sisters, Stella Leppert of Porterville, California, Della Drury of Miles, Iowa and Fran Hayward of Sweet Home, Oregon. John was preceded in death by his wife, Laura; son, John; parents, Ira and Mattie and 2 brothers, Robert and Jim.
John enlisted in the Army National Guard for 4 years and then enlisted in the U.S. Navy for another 4 years before being honorably discharged. John had lived in the Pass Area for over 50 years.
Graveside services Wednesday, September 5, 2012, at 10:00 AM, at Mt. View Cemetery, 1315 Edgar Avenue, Beaumont, California with military honors.
Arrangements were entrusted to Weaver Mortuary, Beaumont, California.
