William ""Bill"" Cox, 67, of Beach City was born April 13, 1941 in Rosebud, Texas and passed away Thursday, January 29, 2009. He was an active member of Old River Baptist Church where he taught Sunday school. He retired from Solvay Polymers as an assistant unit manager. A licensed pilot for over 50 years, as well as an airplane mechanic and inspector, he enjoyed flying with his friends and fellow pilots out of RWJ Airpark. The joys in his life were traveling, fishing, and spending time with his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Naomi Cox and is survived by his wife, Gloria Cox of Beach City; daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Bill Parnell of Crosby; sons and daughters-in-law, Todd and Dana Cox of Sugar Land and Rusty and Andrea Hoke of Huntsville; sister and brother-in-law, Sharon and Larry Odom of Georgetown; grandchildren, Jessica, Christina, Cody, Hannah, Rachel, Baylee, Jesse and Jodi. He is also survived by the mother of his children, Bonnie Cox, and numerous relatives and friends.
His family will receive friends at Navarre Funeral Home Wednesday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be Thursday, February 5, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at Old River Baptist Church, 12948 FM 1409, Dayton, TX 77535 with Rev. Danny Biddy officiating. Burial will follow at 2:30 p.m. at the Poole Cemetery in Montgomery County near Richards.
Serving as pallbearers will be Bill Speer, John Bolding, David Alden, Mike Rountree, Gordon Lowe and Leonard Milholland. Honorary pallbearers will be M.T. Peery, Worthy Wornack, RWJ Pilots and Jackie Byrd's Sunday School Class.
In lieu of usual remembrances, contributions may be made to the building fund at Old River Baptist Church, 12948 FM 1409, Dayton, Texas 77535.
