A TRIBUTE TO HER LIFE
Sharon went to be with her predeceased beloved family and friends at age 69 while surrounded by her family, on Thursday, December 15, 2016 in Pasadena, Texas.
Sharon was born on Sunday, December 22, 1946 to Stanley Scott Packard and Marjorie June Morse Packard in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, it was a cold snowy day at 33 degrees. Sharon grew up in Portsmouth, New Hampshire where she met Billy Ray Pavlicek while stationed at Pease Airforce Base. They married May 22, 1965 and had two children. They relocated to Baytown, Texas when he was discharged. They bought their first home in Pasadena, Texas where they raised their kids. While married to Bill, she truly enjoyed her kids so much that she herself became one of us. Doing everything from wrapping houses, making prank phone calls, and even sneaking out at night after Bill was asleep. Their home was the ‘hangout’ house. Half the time she tried to stay ‘out of trouble’ but normally got ‘busted’, little did he know; us kids would back her up and give her the ‘alibis’ she needed to stay out of ‘trouble’. But he always knew… Then in her 30’s with a lot of sacrifices and loving support, in 1983 Bill and Sharon started their own business; Pavliceks Truck and Trailer Repair. Unfortunately, Bills untimely death in 1989 forced the decision to close the business at the end of 1990. Sharon is also a huge New England Patriot fan and eventually made it to Gillette Stadium.
Sharon met George Griffin, they decided to marry and blended the two families on July 2, 1992 in Pasadena, Texas and each gained ‘bonus’ children. They truly thought of their ‘bonus’ children as their own; as well as the ‘bonus’ children thought of Sharon and George as their own. I myself have never heard anyone say things such as “She’s MY mom or He’s MY dad”. To us kids, we were all brothers and sisters. They enjoyed travelling, and they did a whole lot of it along with their favorite ‘son’ Gus. Everything from cruises, going to the condo in Port Aransas where they loved the hot tub and sauna and their ‘son’ Gus loved the elevator, or just driving around from state to state to see what was there. They really did see the U.S. They also liked spending an entire day at the movies, they called it ‘two-fer’ they paid to get in, then would sneak into the other movies. George worked at San Jacinto College as a truck driving instructor, and they became ‘Professional Students’ in their 40’s; where Sharon did George's English assignments and George did Sharon's math assignments. One of her funniest achievements was she printed off one of those maps of the United States that is given to 6th graders to write in the names of the states and gave it as a test to the wanna be truck drivers, it was very surprising to everyone how many of them had no idea which state was which. I think they still use that test today. They spent many, many holidays in New Hampshire with her sister Linda. George fell in love with it.
Sharon was a selfless caretaker who went through life helping others. She took care of Bill throughout his lifetime with his heart problems. When she was a professional student she completed the nursing program. In 2003 her sister Linda was diagnosed with cancer and Sharon and George moved to New Hampshire so she could help take care of Linda. At the same time, Sharon's mother could no longer live on her own, so they moved her from Coupeville, Washington into their home in New Hampshire. While caring for everyone she also found the time to volunteer for Meals on Wheels. During the 10 years in New Hampshire they traveled (of course) throughout the New England states even taking the ferry to Canada. She looked forward to texting and talking to bonus son Shannon every week, they were avid ‘Survivor’ fans. A huge void in Shannon's heart has been left by her passing for that and many other things only they shared. Sharon's favorite beaches were Opechee Park, Ahern State Park, Bond and Bartlett. Sharon loved watching Jessie go under water and fetching rocks and taking them back to her daddy. Sharon, George, and Jessie's most favorite place to go was Jordans Ice Cream, where they made Jessie her own doggie dish complete with a bone on top. Then, after a couple of years after Sharon's sister and mother passing; Helena (Georges mother) could no longer live alone and needed help; in 2013 they moved to South Carolina to care for her. They would grow and can fresh peaches and search for the perfect peach cobbler recipe, after dozens of recipes and a lot of weight gain they finally found it.
She is survived by her husband, George Griffin; Favorite daughter Jessie and two other kids; Daughter Cheryl Pavlicek Torres (Spouse Roland; Bonus grandkids Mayra and Roland II (RJ) of LaPorte; Son John Ray Pavlicek (Partner Brandy Padalecki; Grandkids Kristina and husband Robbie Nyland, Caleb, Joshua, and Jasilyn Pavlicek and Bonus grandkid Emily Padalecki) Bonus Daughter Cheryl Griffin Shrode (Spouse Joe; Bonus grandkids Teri Green and Tiffany Massey) Bonus Son Shannon Griffin and Bonus son Jordan Travis Griffin (Spouse Amanda Bonus grandkids Ethan and Elizabeth Griffin) Sister Carol Barrett (Spouse Joe; Kids Michael, Jay, Karen ) Brother Wayne (Spouse Charlotte; Kids Jennifer, Sean) Brother-in-law Bill Carta; Kids, Janet, Susan, Cathy, Debbie, and Sharon's favorite and very special niece to her, Nancy) Sister-in-law Jackie Packard and Sister-in-law Barbara Dixon; Kids Eilene, Don, Alison) and numerous cousins, aunts, uncles.
