Ray Albert Broussard, 73, lifelong resident of Baytown, passed away Sunday August 13, 2006, after a brief battle with cancer. He was born April 24, 1933 in Goose Creek, Texas. He served his country in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Iowa during the Korean War from 1952-1955. He retired as a draftsman from GTE after 35 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church. He enjoyed spending time with his family, also hunting, traveling, and sharing his cooking talents with everyone.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Eris Broussard; first wife, Patsy Jean Broussard; brothers, Raymond Broussard and Robert Wayne Broussard.
He is survived by his wife Ann Broussard; daughters, Jeanna Adams and husband Trent, Judy Elkins and husband Joe, Michele Mallin and husband Jim, Marcia Murray, Mitzi Hall and husband Gary; sisters, Irene Badgett and Herschel Badgett, Mary Ann Frazier and husband Louie; sisters-in-law, Virginia Broussard, Billie Broussard, Dorothy Howell Johnson and husband Jerry; grandchildren, Payden Adams, Quincie Adams, Joey Sullivan, Triston Schmidt, Bryce Hall, numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
His family will receive friends at Navarre Funeral Home Tuesday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at First Baptist Church of Baytown Wednesday at 10:00 a.m., officiated by Rev. Carey Froelich, assisted by Rev. Roy Parker. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be Triston Hancock, Payden Adams, Joey Sullivan, David Bryant, Bobby Schrock, and Paul Graves. Honorary pallbearers will be Kenneth Dunn, the First Baptist Church Wednesday Night Cook Crew, the First Baptist Church deacons, the First Baptist Church Lawn Crew.
