Nellie Marie Watkins, 89, of Baytown, Texas passed away on September 5, 2023. Nellie was born on July 25, 1934 in Rosebud, Texas to Dowen Davis and Grace Davis. Nellie was married to Charlie A. Watkins for 47 years. She worked in telecommunications for GTE, which is now Verizon, and retired in 1990.
Nellie loved to sew. She made quilts and dolls. She loved her family gatherings. She also enjoyed camping and shopping.
Nellie is preceded in death by her husband Charlie A. Watkins, brothers James Robert Davis and Billie Wayne Davis; sister Barbara May; grandsons Real Delavergne, David Delavergne; nephew Robert Wayne Davis; great niece Ashley May.
She is survived by her daughter Shirley Stanley and husband Troy Stanley; son Claude Watkins and wife Linda Watkins, son Charles Watkins and wife Patti Watkins; grandchildren Jessica and Phillip Sibley, Nichole and Chris Spretz; Logan (Cade) Watkins and Courtney Futrell, Cara Watkins and Daniel Richard, Cayce Silva and Joel Silva, Kevin Smith and Brandi Smith, and Brian Smith; great grandchildren Adin Guerrero, Chad Hill, Cale Spretz, Aubrey Spretz, Luke Watkins, Stevie Lyle, Thomas Chaplin, Jonathan Chaplin, Alex Silva, Kyler Smith, Sara Smith, and Carma Watson.
Under the direction of Earthman Baytown Funeral Home, 3919 Garth Road, Baytown, Texas 77521 the family will receive guests on Tuesday, September 12, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Funeral service will occur on Wednesday, September 13, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Committal service will follow at Earthman Memory Gardens Cemetery, 8624 Garth Rd, Baytown, TX 77521.
Serving as pallbearers are Chris Spretz, Adin Guerrero, Chad Hill, Phillip Sibley, Cade Watkins, Thomas Chaplin, Kevin Smith and Jonathan Chaplin.
