She was born in Houston, Texas on September 2nd, 1950, to Gertrude E. Herman and Edward R. Kieke. She graduated from Sam Houston State University with a degree in journalism. She was an English teacher for many years and caregiver to her parents. Later in life, she was a special education teacher. Mary was a member of the San Jacinto Council for Girl Scouts in the Houston region. She also loved reading, antiques, genealogy, and writing.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Gertrude Kieke. She is survived by her daughter, Michal Winston of Spring, Texas, as well as her siblings: Angelene Bielefeldt of Spring, Texas, Barbara Winston of Baytown, Texas, and William Kieke of Dayton, Texas.
Visitation will be held from 9-10 am, Friday, September 3, 2021, at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 1200 E. Lobit Ave., Baytown, TX 77520. Funeral service will begin at 10 am. Interment will follow at 12 pm, at Sterling White Cemetery, 11011 Crosby Lynchburg Rd., Highlands, TX 77562.
