Mary Gourlay

Mary Gourlay, 92, of Baytown, was called to her Heavenly home on March 23, 2017 as she was surrounded by her loving family. Mary was born in Eastgate, Texas to William Ross and Ora May (Perry) Bowman on June 17, 1924.

She is survived by her loving husband of 75 years, Virgil H. Gourlay; her children Virgil Gourlay and his wife, Brenda and Barbara Clinkscales; Grandchildren, Ross Gourlay and his wife, Ana, Rusty Gourlay and his wife, Susan and Cindy Clinkscales; eleven great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, William Ross and Ora May (Perry) Bowman; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Jesse and Viola Gourlay; daughter, Patricia Ann Gourlay; brothers, Joe Bowman and his wife, Rosa and Charles ""Cotton"" Bowman; sisters, Anna Faye Davis and her husband, Dale and Lena Mae Wilder and her husband, Jack; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Kennaway Gourlay and his wife, Flonnie, LP Gourlay and his wife, Thelma and Kervin Gourlay and his wife, Orpha Lee and son-in-law, Tommy Clinkscales.

Mary loved to fish and her grandsons were her best fishing buddies. She was a great cook and loved cooking for her family and friends. She taught her family that love, family, and friends were a special gift from God. Mary also cherished her Northside Baptist Church family especially the Gold Department.

God sent the family precious angels from Hallmark Hospice. The love, compassion, and support received from Debbie, Babs, Ana, and Faith was a blessing to our family.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., Sunday, March 26, 2017 at Navarre Funeral Home. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, March 27, 2017 at the funeral home with Dr. Jay Wash of Northside Baptist Church officiating, along with songs from longtime friend, Don Cunningham. Entombment will follow at Memory Gardens Mausoleum.

Pallbearers will be Rusty Gourlay, Adam Cabrera, Malcomb Wilder, Darrell Davis, Charlie Davis and Troy Bowman.
