Martha attended Port Neches-Groves High School where she graduated in 1956. Shortly after graduation she married the man of her dreams, Harold Ray “Bo” Dixon. After studying a short time at Lee College in Baytown, Martha entered the workforce, first working in the clerical department of San Jacinto Hospital for eight years, then working as a secretary at Exxon, where she retired in 1990 after 25 years of service.
Harold retired a year later and they spent many years enjoying what they loved most, traveling and seeing all they could of the United States, taking friends and family with them along the way. They remained dedicated to each other for over 65 years, until Harold’s death in 2022.
Martha was an active member of the Crosby Church of Christ. She loved her church family and would spend many hours on the phone “touching base” with them, checking on their health, their new children and grandchildren, and their other life events, remembering all the details many years later.
Martha was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her sister, Frances Shoemaker. She is survived by her brother, David Lindsey and wife Beverly of Nederland, sisters-in-law Doris Gwin and husband Bobby of Mont Belvieu and Fay Smith of Baytown, several nieces, nephews, and cousins, and a host of loving friends.
The family wishes to extend special thanks to Crosby Church of Christ for the loving care they gave Martha over the years, especially after the death of her beloved Harold.
