Keith Wayland Mixon passed away on December 4, 2020 in Webster, Texas at the age of 82. He was born on September 25, 1938 in Houston, Texas to the union of Wayland Cline Mixon and Joyce Nora Tanner-Mixon.
Keith was a very loving gentleman to all who knew him. He loved his family always and put them first. He had many friends he loved and respected. Keith met the love of his life Betty when he was in college and she was still in high school on a blind date with mutual friends. Betty graduated and they married and moved to Barstow California where he served for 4 years in the U.S. Marine Corp. When they returned home, they brought a beautiful little baby girl named Robin to be a part of there beautiful family. They spent many wonderful years working, traveling, and loving life together. But Keith ALWAYS played ball. Starting with little league, high school, college, the Marine Corp, Leagues around the area, and then Senior Softball. Senior Softball was playing on tournament teams which took them to many states and towns, meeting many wonderful people who became dear friends for life. He was inducted in the Senior Softball Hall of Fame in 2012. It was a very special moment for him. In 2017 he retired and started umpiring. In 1986 they joined the Maranatha Church, now Hillside Church, serving and working for The Lord.
Keith is preceded in death by his parents, Wayland and Joyce Mixon and two brothers, Alvin Ray Mixon and Hugh Lynn Mixon. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Betty Mixon; daughter and her fiancé, Robin Lynne Searcy and Christopher Hugh Culpepper and great grandson, Jeremy Daniel Johnson; granddaughter and her husband, Amber Rae Wuttke and Joseph Oliver Wuttke; grandson and his fiancé,
Justin Lewis Searcy and Caitlyn Milan DeVooght and great granddaughter, Locksley Rae Searcy.
The family will receive friends for visitation at Navarre Funeral Home on Friday, December 11, 2020 from 12:00-1:00 pm, with funeral service to begin at 1:00 pm. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery, Baytown, TX.
Chris Culpepper, Justin Searcy, Joseph Wuttke, Gary Monacy, Ken Foster, Brian Gore
will serve as pallbearers.
