James “Jimbo” Ellis Ward, 60, passed away on Monday July 15, 2019, surrounded by his loving family after an 8 year courageous battle with cancer. He was born to Jeff and Alma Jeannette Ward on August 15, 1958 in Helena, Arkansas. Jim had a long career at ExxonMobil in Baytown and retired as a supervisor in the high voltage electricity department.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Jeff and Lee Ward, sister Jane Ward Tatum and niece Lisa Wilkerson Guy. He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Kathy Barker Ward; daughters Aleasha Shipley and husband David; Grayson Hall and husband Zach; sister and brother-in-law Jeannette and Dennis Wilkerson; grandchildren Laci and Lanham Noah, Carter and Blaire Hall, Corissa and Tyler Owens, Anna Shipley and Reece Picou, and John Shipley; great grandchildren Lexi and Olivia Owens; sister-in-law Vickye Watkins and husband Tod; nieces and nephews Bryan and Jackie Maley, Melissa Maley, Janci and Alfredo Alfaro and many more family and friends.
Jim’s greatest passion was his family. He loved spending time with his grandbabies, who called him Poppy. He loved to hunt, fish and spending time outdoors. He was “Mr. Fix It” and could repair anything you could imagine. You could often find him either at the Honey B Ranch, sitting on the beach watching his grandchildren play in the sand or in his recliner watching the Astros or Texans with Kathy. He will forever be loved and missed.
Pallbearers are: Bryan Maley, David Shipley, Zach Hall, Lanham Noah, John Shipley, Tyler Owens and Alfredo Alfaro. Honorary Pallbearers are: Dennis Wilkerson and Carter Hall.
A visitation with family and friends is scheduled for this Thursday, July 18 from 5-7pm, the service will be Friday, July 19 at 10am at Navarre Funeral Home with a burial following at Cedar Crest Cemetery in Baytown, Texas.
