James was born May 13, 1938 in Baytown, Texas to W.C. O’Sullivan and Agnes Mizell O’Sullivan. He graduated from Robert E. Lee High School (Baytown, Tx.) in 1956, and went on to study Math, Trigonometry, and Geometry at Baytown Lee Junior College, Texas A&M University, and the University of Texas. James met the love of his life, Mary, in the summer of 1959. It was love at first sight. A few months after meeting, on October 23, 1959, they were married.
James worked for Geon Chemical (previously known as Diamond Shamrock and BF Goodrich) for 37 years before retiring in 1997. He enjoyed traveling, all sports, hunting, fishing, and spending time with his wife and kids, grandkids, extended family and friends, and he loved his precious dog, JC. He was a member of St. Marks United Methodist Church of Baytown, Texas.
James is preceded in death by his parents W.C. and Agnes O’Sullivan, his mother-in-law and father-in-law Lynn and Esther Marsh, and son-in-law Steve Hays.
James is survived by his wife Mary Lynn Marsh O’Sullivan, son Craig O’Sullivan and wife Nina, daughter Susan Hays, and daughter Patricia Woods and husband Louis. His grandchildren, Amanda Thompson and husband Justin, Bruce Strickland, Hannah Donaldson and husband Patrick, Mary Grosjean, Candace Grosjean, and Courtney Bishop and husband Brice. Great grandchildren Beau LaFour, Peyton Strickland, Lucy Donaldson, Jordan Thompson and Braiden Thompson. Special friends Leland and Linda Robertson, Skully Molen, Ronnie O’Sullivan, Jack and Sandy Christmas, Connie Connealy, and Carolyn and Wayne Merrit.
Pallbearers are Bruce Strickland, Beau LaFour, Justin Thompson, Brice Bishop, Patrick Donaldson, JJ Lopez, and Matt Allen. Honorary Pallbearers are Craig O’Sullivan and Louis Woods.
Services for James will be held at Navarre Funeral Home, 2444 Rollingbrook Dr, Baytown, Texas 77521. Visitation will be held January 27, 2020 at 9 a.m. with a service to follow at 10 a.m., with a private burial in Cat Spring, Texas.
