Grace LaVergne Swick, 91, born in Gueydan, Louisiana on January 4, 1925 passed away peacefully on January 12, 2016 in a local Hospital. She married the love of her life William Paul Swick on May 14, 1941 and moved to Las Vegas, Nevada where Paul was stationed in the Air Force. They moved back to Baytown after the war. They were married for 72 years.
Grace was preceded in death by her parents, Martin and Marie LaVergne, her husband, Paul Swick, two brothers and 3 sisters.
Grace stayed home to raise her three children, while enjoying baking, sewing, and other handcrafts.
She volunteered for the After School Reading Program. She belonged to the Beach City Grandmother’s Club and the Highlands Quilting Bee. She and Paul enjoyed playing dominoes at the Senior Center.
She made many trip around Texas with the Baytown Senior Programs. She was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxillary.
She leaves behind three children and their spouses, Martha and Larry Haynes, Judy and Buster Treude, and Bill and Mary Swick. Also surviving her are eight grandchildren, Douglas and Dennis Haynes, Tricia Streitmann, Paula Boswell, Diana Beebe, Debbie Schmadl, Kate and Tyler Swick; sixteen great grandchildren and 2 great great grand-children.
The family will receive friends for visitation on Friday morning, January 15th at 9: 00 a.m. at Earthman Funeral Home with the funeral services following at 10:00 a.m. Rev. Jack Hagee will officiate. Interment will follow at Memory Garden Cemetery.
