Esther was married to Idilio Arguelles for 64 years and was the beloved mother of nine children. Esther cherished gathering with her family and was a devoted member of Iglesia El Sinai, Iglesia El Paraiso, and Cristo Viene. Esther’s faith in God was the foundation of her life, and she consistently encouraged her family to draw closer to God and live according to His Word. She not only spoke of her faith but demonstrated it through her actions every day. Esther founded the El Paraiso Church in El Cercado, N.L., Mexico, planted three mission churches, and pastored two congregations throughout the state of Nuevo Leon, Mexico.
Esther worked as a nurse and midwife at the clinic in Reynosa, Mexico, and was recognized by Parteras Monterrey Sabiduria y Ciencia as one of the most experienced midwives all over Mexico. Through her God-given talents, she delivered up to three generations of babies, many whom continued to call her “Grandma”, a reflection of her love and care. Esther was deeply committed to serving her community. She often provided care free of charge to women in need, accepting gifts of food, fruit or animals such as chickens in gratitude. Her kindness and nurturing spirit left a lasting impact on countless families.
Esther loved traveling and being near the water. She never said no to an opportunity to explore and delighted in every journey she took. Whether visiting the river or the beach, she found peace and joy in the water’s presence, often being the last to want to leave. She was fortunate to travel to many places, fulfilling her lifelong dream of visiting Israel.
Esther was preceded in death by her father, her mother Catalina y Altamirano, her husband Idilio Arguelles, and her grandson Neftali Arguelles. Her surviving family members who will continue to treasure her memory are her daughters Martha Arguelles, Abigail Arguelles, Lorohoma Arguelles and Areli Arguelles; and sons Lazaro Arguelles, David Arguelles, Noe Arguelles, Jose A. Arguelles and Oseas Arguelles; 22 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren, all whom will continue to cherish her memory and the example she set as a woman of unwavering faith.
