Elvie M. McCullough, 88, beloved mother and grandmother, better known as ""MeeMaw"", opened her wings to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 4th surrounded by her family in Tyler, Texas. She was born in Mavoria, TX on April 7th, 1929 to her parents Charlie and Edna Fojt and lived most of her life in Baytown, TX.
She was married to Oscar S. McCullough, Jr. on September 5th, 1950 for 39 years before his death. She is proceeded in death by her husband, her parents, Charlie and Edna Fojt and her brother, Edwin Ray Fojt.
Elvie is survived by brother, James ""Jake"" Fojt and sister in law Helen Fojt, daughters, Linda S. Harden and companion, John Porter, Bonnie L. Graham, Debbie A. Moseley and husband, Jeff. She is survived by two beautiful granddaughters, Kristie M. Alexander and husband, Geordie and Emilee M. Moseley as well as one great-grandson, Lincoln F. Alexander who shared her same birth date. Also, left to cherish her memory are a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A special place in her heart went to Edwin ""BooBoo"" Fojt who was known as our brother and Kassity L. Fojt who called her ""grandmother"". She graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in 1947 and worked at Fuller's Motor Company and Higginbotham's car dealership, where she met her husband, Oscar. Elvie enjoyed spending time with her family, especially spoiling her granddaughters. She volunteered her time working at the St. Paul's Food Pantry and Women's United Thrift Shop. She enjoyed traveling to Weimar to visit numerous relatives as well as fishing and searching for bluebonnet fields. She loved camping, traveling, playing skip Bo, cruises and visiting casinos.
She had previously been president of the Baytown Senior Center and organized many of their trips throughout Texas. She founded the St. Paul's Lutheran Golden Group, was a member of the Grandmother's Club and Red Hatters as well as a member of the Wachika Campers Club.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 7, 2017 at Navarre Funeral Home and again from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Thursday June 8, 2017 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 712 Schilling Avenue, Baytown, Texas 77521 with a service to begin at 11:00 a.m. at the church with Rev. Nancy Simpson officiating and musical arrangements by Kassity and Mike Cole. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, June 7, 2017 at White Chapel Cemetery in Highlands with Elder Jeff Moseley officiating.
Pallbearers are Edwin ""BooBoo"" Fojt, Charlie Fojt, Jordan Fojt, Monty Barnes, John Porter, Geordie Alexander. Honorary Pallbearers are Jake Fojt, Bryce Barnes, Dalton Fojt, Gavin Fojt and Ben Virchant.
A special thank you to her loving and devoted caregivers, Kim Collier, Regina Hicks, Anissa Hunter, Karen Matthews, Dewana Rennels and nurse Kathryn Marteen. While living at Remington Assisted Living her special care givers were Mary Goudeau and Sherma Spidey.
While living in Tyler, TX, Mark Braaten of Our Savior's Lutheran Church provided spiritual comfort.
