He attended Lee High School and graduated 3rd in his class. Joseph had a career in the petrochemical industry. He worked and retired from ExxonMobil Refinery in Baytown after 33 years of service and had a passion for computer programming, learning Latin and also studied chess masters.
He was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Helen Gonzales; sister Patricia Magallanes; brother Jerry Gonzales; grandparents Clemente and Guadalupe Estrada, grandparents Ismael and Maggie Gonzales.
He survived by his daughter Teresa (Johnathan) Thomas of Baytown; sister Rose Razo (Vale) of Cypress, Texas; sister Susan (Jesus) Pichardo of Baytown; brother Mike Gonzales of Baytown; brother-in-law Manuel Magallanes of Porter; grandson Daniel (Trinity) Thomas of Beaumont; Nieces and nephews Joseph (Monica) Razo; Victor (Tiffany) Razo; Jesse Pichardo; Melissa Pichardo; Juana Magallanes; Joseph Magallanes; Valentin Magallanes, Knorie Gonzales of Baytown, Stavros Gonzales of Dallas; great nephew Mason Razo and great niece Ellie Razo.
A visitation will be held Friday, June 23, 2023 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Earthman Baytown Funeral Home, 3919 Garth Road, Baytown, Texas 77521 with a Recitation of the Rosary at 6:00 pm.
A short visitation will start at 9:30 am on Saturday, June 24, 2023 at St. John Catholic Church, 800 W. Baker Road, Baytown, Texas 77521 with funeral mass starting at 10:00 am. A graveside service will follow at 12:00 pm at Sterling White Cemetery, 11011 Crosby Lynchburg Road, Highlands, Texas 77562.
