We are here today on Monday, June 26, 2023 to honor and pay our respects to Carol Harrison, who passed on June 20, 2023 in Galveston, Texas. She was born on August 24, 1933, in Raytown, Missouri to Mr. & Mrs. James Melvin Cesar. She was the only remaining sibling of nine. Carol was mother to three girls, Karen Phillips (Michael), Sandra Gerace (Jim), and Katherine Hughes (Steve) and Grandmother or GG as she liked to be called to five grandchildren (Ryan Hughes, Lauren Hughes, Jon Andrews, Kristen Staggers, Ann Andrews) and nine Great Grandchildren (Jax and Ryker Andrews, Coy Staggers, Maddi Hughes, Brody Hughes, Marley Hughes, Kalynn Holmes, CJ Holmes, Bryce Holmes, Gavin Holmes).
Carol met the love of her life, Dan Harrison, and was married in Harrison, Arkansas on August 31, 1951, settled in Baytown, Texas and enjoyed each other’s company until his passing in 1985. Carol was a member of the Citizen’s Bank family, beginning as a stenographer and retiring as a Vice President in 1984. Carol and Dan’s appreciation of the outdoors included month-long backpacking and skiing trips winter and summer. Carol never lost of love of the outdoors, fishing, hunting, and camping with their young girls and later in life took up snorkeling and scuba diving. She also developed a love of gambling and enjoyed trips to Vegas, New Orleans, and Lake Charles. Bowling was also a fond hobby, and she was on a league wherever she lived.
Carol and Dan had always dreamed of a Mediterranean Cruise, but sadly Dan left her too soon in life. In 2008 Carol was determined to fulfill that dream and provided her three daughters the vacation of a lifetime with stops in Spain, Italy, France, and Croatia.
She always had a good heart, got along with everyone, and had a smile for everyone. After
settling in Jamaica Beach on Galveston Island 2001, she was a member of the Jamaica Janes, Red Hats Society, was always involved in Mardi Gras or wherever there was a barbecue or fish fry.
A visitation will be held Monday, June 26, 2023 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Earthman Baytown Funeral Home 3919 Garth Rd. Baytown, TX 77521 with a chapel service starting at 11:00 am. A graveside service will follow at 12:30 pm at Cedarcrest Cemetery 3010 Ferry Rd. Baytown, TX 77520.
