Bobby Louis Sorenson, 76, of Baytown passed away Tuesday, November 26, 2019. Bobby was born on November 21, 1943 in Taylor, Texas to Louis Christian and Pauline Clara (Wuthrich) Sorenson. He was a 1963 graduate of Taylor High School where he was captain of the track team and competed in the Texas High School State Track meet in the 880-yard dash event. Bobby continued his education at Howard County Community College and later Southwest Texas State College on track scholarships. At Southwest Texas, he was also a member of the Phi Kappa Alpha fraternity. He graduated from Southwest Texas State College in 1967 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Education. He later earned his Masters of Education degree from Sam Houston State University. He served as an educator for 46 years. In 1967, Bobby began his teaching career in Baytown at De Zavala Elementary school. He later went on to Horace Mann Jr. School, where the taught science and coached athletics. After 2 decades of service at Horace Mann, Bobby began teaching science at Baytown Junior School, where he served for 25 years. Bobby is preceded in death by his parents and survived by his sister, Jerlene Sander and her husband Harold.
Beatrice Santana Sorenson, 71, of Baytown, Texas passed away on December 19, 2019. She was born to Juanito and Maria Del Refugio (Ruth) Santana on December 19, 1948 in Baytown, Texas. She is preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Bobby Louis Sorenson; her parents; sister, Rebecca Santana Garcia; sister Alicia Contreras; and brother, Johnny Santana, Jr. They are survived by their children; son, Robert Louis Sorenson and wife Melissa of Baytown, Texas; daughter Jennifer Ashley Elder and husband Mark of Seguin, Texas; son, Christian Blake Sorenson of Baytown; and grandchildren Robert Louis Sorenson Jr., Laura Marie Sorenson, Montgomery James Elder and Emerson Graham Elder. Also surviving are sister, Emma Evangelina Camacho; and brother Raynaldo (Ronnie) Santana and wife Priscilla; and a host of nieces and nephews. Serving as pallbearers are Mark Elder, Jamie Santana, Rodney Santana, Johnny Santana III, Louis Rey Rodriguez, Raynaldo (Ronnie) Santana, Sesar Figueroa, Richard Zimmerly, William (Bill) Garrett, Rick Detwiler, David Yepez, Troy Boodell, and Robert Sorenson, Jr. Honorary pallbearers are Montgomery Elder and Emerson Elder.
