Billy Sanders, 95, passed away peacefully on November 5, 2022 at his home in Baytown, Texas surrounded by his wife of 61 years, Lila, and his family. He was born January 2, 1927 to Duncan and Dorothy Sanders.
Billy attended Robert E. Lee High School and Lee College. Billy went on to serve in the Merchant Marines and was a proud World War II Veteran. Billy retired from Diamond Shamrock and Maxus Energy. He was strong in his faith and was a longtime member of St. Mark's United Methodist Church.
In 1961, Billy met the love of his life, Lila. Together they enjoyed a long, happy marriage. Billy enjoyed many family trips to Port Aransas and Padre Island, and loved working in his garden. He also enjoyed keeping up with the stock market and politics.
Billy was preceded in death by his father, Duncan Sanders; mother, Dorothy Pohl; sisters, Rosemary Leonard and Dorothy Lovett; and his grandson, Jeremy Mezzell. He is survived by his wife, Lila; son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Joyce Andrews; grandchildren, Troy Mezzell and Tim and Renee Mezzell; eight great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; his special niece, Karen Vance; special friends, Vicky, Robbie, and Jennifer Dominguez; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Billy was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
A memorial service for Billy will be held on Saturday, November 19, 2022 at 11:00 am at Navarre Funeral Home, 2444 Rollingbrook Drive, Baytown, Texas 77521.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in memory of Billy may be made to any disabled veterans organization of your choice.
