Mrs. May is survived by her daughter, Donna Nicholas of Baytown, Texas, grandson Tim Nicholas and his wife Susie of Rockne, Texas, granddaughter Jennifer Nicholas Allred, and her husband Steve, of Houston, Texas and great grandchildren, Shannen Nicholas of Austin, Texas, Brian Allred and Natalie Allred of Houston, Texas, and her brother Raymond Nissen of Foxfire Village, North Carolina.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edna Green and Iman Rasmussen, and her stepfather Ralph Nissen, her beloved husband Elmer A. May, her daughter Judie Segal, grandson Michael Higby, and sisters Ruby Lundeen and Betty Lanphere of Clinton, Iowa.
Beatrice M. Rasmussen Nissen May was born on May 16, 1919 in Clinton, Iowa to Edna Green Rasmussen and Iman Rasmussen and graduated from High School in Clinton, Iowa. She married Elmer A. May on December 31, 1941, he passed away on July 3, 1981.
She was a member of the order of Eastern Star, and enjoyed activities with her family, gardening, and cooking. She was a member of the Community Congregational Church in Clinton, Iowa. After she moved to Texas, she was an active member of the Baytown Senior Center and the J. D. Walker Senior Center.
She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Her greatest joy was being with her grandchildren and her great grandchildren.
A visitation is scheduled for Saturday, June 27, from 10 am to 12 at Navarre Funeral Home in Baytown Texas, all are welcome to attend and celebrate her life.
The family would like to thank all the nursing home staff at Cedar Bayou Healthcare facility for their care, love and dedication during her stay.
Mrs. May will be buried in Oakland Cemetery, Clinton, Iowa next to her husband.
