Born in Flynn, Texas, on September 17, 1917, Ann was the daughter of George and Beulah Hines Cozart. She was raised in Normangee and attended the College of Industrial Arts in Denton, now Texas Woman's University, and Sam Houston State College in Huntsville, where she met her husband, William Parrish. They married in 1937 and moved to Houston, then Baytown, where Ann lived for 74 years. She worked as an accountant for the First National Bank of Goose Creek, the Humble Oil refinery and Texas Eastern Federal Credit Union; among her accomplishments was setting up the books for the butyl rubber plant at the Humble refinery during World War II.
Ann was known for her hospitality, her cooking, her fondness for gardening and her love for God, her husband and her family. She was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ and taught Sunday school for many years. She was a member of Eastside Church of Christ in Baytown at the time of her death.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Davis and James Wiley Cozart; her husband, William; a great-granddaughter, Sydney Leigh Parsons; and son-in-law, Jimmy Parsons. She is survived by her son, William W. Parrish II; her daughter, Ann Parsons; two grandsons, Antony Parsons and his wife, Megan, of Liberty Hill, and Jim Parsons of Houston; great-grandchildren Abigail Parsons and Joshua Parsons; and numerous friends and relatives.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, September 3, at Navarre Funeral Home in Baytown. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, September 4, at the funeral home with Mr. Dee Bowman and Mr. Marc Hinds officiating. A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, September 4, at Hopewell Cemetery in Normangee, with Mr. Zeke Flores officiating.
