A retired railroad engineer from Illinois Central Railroad and resident of Baton Rouge, he passed away Monday, Nov. 28, 2011, at his residence. He was 83 and a native of Newton County Miss. Visitation at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd., Wednesday, Nov. 30, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., with recitation of the Rosary at 7 p.m. Visitation at the funeral home chapel Thursday, Dec. 1, from 10 a.m. until funeral service at noon. Interment in Greenoaks Memorial Park. He is survived by a daughter, Katherine Lee Dunnam and husband Johnie; two sons, Robert Allen Buckley and wife Lyna, and Michael Edwin Buckley and wife Shelley; three sisters, Audrey Carlene Buntyn, Elizabeth Elaine Lee and Martha Fay Collins; a brother, Jeff Austin Buckley; six grandchildren, Christopher Bryan Dunnam, Mark Edward Dunnam, Jessica Leigh Buckley, David Anthony Buckley, Lori Beth Buckley and Michael Edwin Buckley Jr.; and a great-grandson, Braden Reese Dunnam. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl Ammon Buckley and Thelma Lee Gressett Buckley; his wife, Margaret Anne Garst Buckley; and a son, Jeffery Carl Buckley. Pallbearers will be his sons, son-in-law, grandsons and nephews. He served in the Navy from 1945-49 and re-enlisted in the Army in 1949 where he served until 1953. After his retirement from the railroad, he volunteered at the Cancer Services of Greater Baton Rouge for 20 years and in 2008 was a recipient of the D. Jensen Holliday Memorial Reward presented by Mary Bird Perkins. He was a member of the Big R Railroad RetirementCclub, Monsignor John A. Weber KC Council 3331 and the Elks Club. Warren was known for his generosity, his telling of jokes, bridge playing, trivia on various subjects and reading. He enjoyed gathering with family and friends. His loving spirit will be missed by many. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Cancer Services of Greater Baton Rouge, 550 Lobdell Ave., Baton Rouge, LA 70806.
