Una Gonzales Dugas, 94, peacefully departed this life on Sunday, November 3, 2013 at her home in Baton Rouge, LA. She was born January 1, 1919 in White Castle, LA to parents, Antoine and Jeanne Clouatre Gonzales. She was married to the love of her life, Ike J. Dugas, for over 75 years. She was an incredibly talented, inventive, godly lady that, though had no children by birth, shared much unconditional love, wisdom and wit with nieces and nephews as well as her friends, young and old, that gravitated to this amazing woman. She retired as a District Manager with Home Interiors after having enjoyed many successful years in addition to working as a merchandise manager at Rosenfeld's Department Store. She was a member of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church. She and Ike enjoyed many years of dancing in Starlighters and Frolickers Dance Clubs. She was a wonderful cook&entertainer and never failed to provide the venue for any family member or friend's function that needed to be held, once again exhibiting her love of family. She was an elegant lady with style&grace whom enjoyed wearing her decorative insect brooches. She is survived by and will be greatly missed by her loving husband, Ike J. Dugas, two sisters, Lois Gonzales Speeg, Baton Rouge and Jean Gonzales Loar, Central, LA, one sister-in-law, Olda Mae Dugas, White Castle, LA, and a host of nieces and nephews to the fifth generation. Preceded in death by her parents, Antoine Gonzales and Jeanne Clouatre Gonzales; siblings, Beatrice Gonzales, Emma Medine, Adele Miley, Eddie Gonzales&Jeannette Dugas. Visitation will be November 6, 2013 at Rabenhorst East Funeral Home, Florida Boulevard, from 5 pm to 8 pm. Visitation will continue, Thursday, November 7, 2013 at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, 445 Marquette Avenue from 9:30 am until Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am. Interment will follow at Greenoaks Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be her godson, Alex Dugas, and Carl Dugas, Anthony Miley, S. J. Medine, Bennette Loar, J.K. Speeg. Honorary pallbearers will be George Dick, John Jolissaint, Jr., Camile Landry, William Cambre, and Greg Kennedy. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the caregivers at Always Best Care of Baton Rouge, especially Gloria, Cordney, Michelle, Marium and Shawana for the wonderful attention and care given our loved one. We would also like to thank St. Joseph Hospice of Baton Rouge for their excellent care especially Jessica and Dr. Janet Cook of Ochsner for her many years of caregiving.
