She is survived by her loving parents, Lisa and Emmanuel Matlock; three special nieces, Paige, Rayne and Tobie Lee Bossier; sister Jade Pierce and husband, Will Bennett; her new special niece, Ellie Bennett; brothers, Justin and Brandon Pierce; brother-in-law, Ryan Bossier; grandmothers, Virginia Morman and Faye Fulton; dear family friend, Elaina Roque; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends; and her beloved dog and companion, Larke. She is preceded in death by her father, Toby Pierce; sister, Tonya Pierce Bosssier; cousin, Miranda Morman; and grandfather, Wendell Lee Morman.
Sonya was a gentle and kind person who was devoted to helping children in Livingston Parish as a Social Worker for Child Protection Services. She was an LSU alumni and avid tiger fan. For the last 16 years she has fought long and hard through her illness, which she did with dignity and grace. Sonya was referred to as a beautiful unicorn in a field of horses. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd, Baton Rouge, LA on Saturday, January, 22, 2022 from 9 am until funeral service at 11 am. Burial will follow in Greenoaks Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Dean Morman, Kevin Morman Sr., Kevin Morman Jr., Bo Morman, Porter Glover, and Seth Staton.
The family would like thank Dr. Mark Dennis and his staff, and Clarity Hospice and staff for their dedication and support during Sonya’s illness.
