Shirley Schroeder Kellen

"A beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, she passed away Monday morning, November 6, 2017.  She was 89, a native of Baton Rouge and a retiree of L.S.U.  Shirley is preceded in death by her husband, John W. Kellen, Jr.; brother, Martin C. Schroeder, Jr.; and son-in-law, William McCurley.  She is survived by three daughters, Susan K. McCurley, Kathryn Kellen, and Martha K. Breckenridge; brother, Carl P. Schroeder (Judy) of Richland, WA; grandchildren, James Morris, Sarah M. Escobar (Juan), Stephen Shockley, Kellen B. Van Horn (Mitchell), Mary Breckenridge, and Jack Breckenridge (Sarah); eight adoring great grandchildren; and former son-in-law, Michael Breckenridge.  Visiting will take place at Rabenhorst, 825 Government St., on Wednesday, November 8, from 9 a.m. until the service at 11 a.m. conducted by the Rev. Ted Roeling, Sr.  A private burial will take place at a later date.  Shirley's legacy is one of warmth and generosity.  She made everyone around her feel unique and special.  She was her family's cornerstone and will be greatly missed.    In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Parkinson's Foundation or The Church of the Way Presbyterian, Baton Rouge.
