Samuel Hemmings, a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away at Ochsner in New Orleans on Sunday, January 1, 2017 at the age of 87. A native of Republic of Panama, once he retired as a firefighter he immigrated to Baton Rouge, LA in 1985. Samuel was a faithful member of St. Louis King of France, where he served as an usher. Samuel is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Georgina Hemmings; children, Raquel Martinez, Dilia Martinez, Samuel T. Hemmings, Sr. (Angela), Thomas T. Hemmings (Carlene), Ilka C. Hemmings (Norman), and Magaly Hemmings (Juan); 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and 3 sisters. Samuel was preceded in death by his parents; grandsons, Jose’ Morgan and Alex Villatoro. Visitation will be held at St. Louis King of France Catholic Church on Friday, January 6, 2017 from 11:30 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 1:30 p.m. Interment will follow on the grounds of Greenoaks Memorial Park.
