Robert Charles"Bob"Kane

After an extended illness Robert "Bob" Kane, 63, of Baton Rouge, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 10, 2013, surrounded by his loving wife and daughters.  Bob was born February 25, 1950 in Griffin, GA and was the only child of Charles and June Kane.  He was a 1968 graduate of St. Paul's high School in Covington and attended both Nicholls State and Southeastern La. University.  He was a member of the U.S. Navy and served on the USS Power.  Following in his father's footsteps Bob became a golf professional and greens superintendent, working at B.R. Country Club, Fairview Country Club and Shenandoah Country Club.  Bob was a longtime active member of Fairwood Country Club serving on its Board of Directors for a number of years.  He was also a longtime member and served on the boards of Baton Rouge Irish Club and the Carnival Krewe of Tucumcari.  After leaving the golf profession Bob worked in the financial field as a comptroller for ISE until retirement in 2004.  He touched many lives, never met a stranger, and had a joy for life.  He lived his life to the fullest.  He had a big personality and anyone that knew him or even met him for a brief time will always remember him.  One of his most loved past times was anything to do with LSU.  He loved to tailgate and was the founder of the "Royal Jack Tailgating" group.  He leaves behind his loving wife of 38 years, Sherrie, to cherish their memories, his two daughters Keli Kane Snelson and husband James of St. Gabriel, and Kathryn "Katie" Kane Graves and husband Mark of Baton Rouge, three grandchildren Tyler and Mason Graves and McKynzi Snelson.  Visitation will be held at Rabenhorst East Funeral Home, 11000 Florida Blvd. on Friday, July 12, 2013 from 5:00pm until 9:00pm.  Visitation resumes on Saturday at 8:30am until the funeral service at 10:00am, conducted by the Rev. Thomas Duhe'.
