"Richard Eckman, a lifelong resident of Baton Rouge, passed away Tuesday, May 30, 2017, at age 73. An enthusiastic "How are you!" and a huge smile is how you were greeted from Richard every time. He loved all he came into touch with and let them know. Most of all he loved his family, friends and patients. Hunting, fishing and especially golf were his passion. Richard served in the US Air Force and Graduated from Louisiana State University Dental School and Louisiana Tech. After a long dental career Richard retired in 2011. He is survived by his wife of 19 years Allyson Calkins Eckman, his daughter, Kristen Page Eckman Allgood, sons Jonathan Wade Eckman and Preston Scott Eckman, stepson Richard Feigley and wife Carla and stepdaughter Rachel Feigley, grandchildren Conner Allgood, Brandon Allgood, Margaret Eckman and Hunter Eckman, sister Patricia E. Graham, the mother of his children Darlene Cox Eckman and special caregiver Sarah (Sam) Jones. He was preceded in death by his parents Annabel Moran Eckman & Robert John Eckman, and daughter in law Kristina L. Eckman. Pallbearers will be Michael Sean Edwards, Robert John Edwards, Richard Kuhlmann, Tommy J. Hess, Brett Shattuck, Ronnie Bourgeois, Johnny Harrison and Jay Ruiz. Memorial Service conducted by Reverend Terry Bishop. "Hit "˜em straight my friend." Richard would often say. He will be greatly missed by all and will be remembered for being a great dentist, his great golf game, love of all things outdoors and his generosity. Visitation will be at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government St., Baton Rouge, LA, Friday, June 2, 5:30 - 8:30 p.m., continuing Saturday, June 3 at 10:30 a.m. until memorial service at noon. Burial will be at Greenoaks Memorial Park.
