Ralph Lorio Lieux

Ralph Lorio Lieux, originally from New Roads, Louisiana, passed away on Good Friday, 3/29/2024, at the age of 85, surrounded by family. He was the tenth of eleven children of Frances Azema Lorio and Joseph Bertrand Lieux, Sr. He was a 1957 graduate of St. Joseph Academy in New Roads. After High School, he served in the National Guard and attained the rank of SSgt. He then earned a BA in 1966 and was an alumnus of Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond. Soon after college, Ralph married his loving wife, Ellen Scates Lieux, of 58 years, and moved to Baton Rouge to begin a 29-year career as a Research Chemist with Dow Chemical. When not working, he loved to spend time with family and friends. He especially loved to fish down near Leeville and Grand Isle. After retirement, he continued fishing but also enjoyed taking each of his children and their families to Disney and travelling with his wife Ellen. Ralph is survived by his wife Ellen, their two daughters, Dana Lieux Street and husband Michael Street, and Marilyn Lieux Whisenhunt and husband Dewayne Whisenhunt, their son, Garrett Lorio Lieux and wife Connie Perrin Lieux, along with nine grandchildren (Hannah (Steven Wright), Rachel (Dylan Drumm), Elizabeth, Thomas Street; Audrey, Sarah, Isabelle Lieux; Quest, Marlie Whisenhunt and four great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, and ten brothers and sisters: Bert (Shirley), Frances (Levy), Lucille (Gene), Ted (Mary Alice), Sister Beth, Sister Bert, Charles, Magda (Charlie), Edward (Meredith), and John (Laverne). Visitation will be at Greenoaks Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 9595 Florida Blvd., Thursday, April 11 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. with services to follow at noon.
