Phuc T Ngo was sponsored to America at the end of 1986 where she was finally reunited with her daughter in Baton Rouge, Louisiana after 12 years apart due to the aftermath of the Vietnam war. Once in Baton Rouge she continued to be a devout Catholic and active parishioner of St Anthony of Padua Catholic Church. She was known to keep a fastidious prayer routine throughout her daily life. She enjoyed spending time with her family and devoting her efforts to taking care of her grandchildren in addition to various younger members of the Vietnamese community. In her later years life became difficult as she had been diagnosed with dementia but her faith in God and love for her family kept her going until her body could no longer continue
“He saw the road was getting rough And the hills were hard to climb, So He closed your weary eyelids And whispered "Peace be thine." It broke our hearts to lose you. But you didn't go alone, For part of us went with you The day God called you home.” - Excerpt from “God looked around his Garden” by Melissa Shreve
