Patrick (Pat) W. Cook, age 80, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 2, 2015. He was a native of Alexandria, and a longtime resident of Baton Rouge. Pat is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Dorothy; four children, Richard M. Cook of Beaverton, OR, Patrick W. Cook, Jr. and Cynthia Chedville both of Denham Springs, and Cheryl Ahlhardt of Pagosa Springs, CO; five grandchildren, Matthew, Nicole, Kristen, Bobby, and Faith; and two brothers, Alfred E. Cook, Sr., and Sherman Cook both of Alexandria, LA. Pat served 8 years in the U.S. Navy and Naval Reserves, and graduated from LSU while working full-time. He retired from Exxon after 32 years of service as an Equipment Engineer. Pat was active in his church and community, serving as one-time president of the Cosmopolitan Club of B.R. and teaching disadvantaged adults to read in his spare time. He was a lifelong history buff and loved learning, a passion he passed on to his children. Visitation will be held at Greenoaks Funeral Home on Friday, July 10th from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm with a Rosary at 6:30pm; and on Saturday, July 11th from 10:00 am to 12:30 pm. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 11441 Goodwood Blvd. in Baton Rouge, on Saturday, July 11th at 1:00 pm. Interment will follow at Greenoaks Memorial Park.
