Nestor J. Vicknair, Jr.

"Nestor Joseph Vicknair, Jr., 87 years old, passed away peacefully at Baton Rouge General Hospital on September 28, 2018. He was a New Orleans native but a resident of Baton most of his life. He attended Catholic High School and LSU and was the owner of Viking Distributors, Inc. He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Shirley Ann Daspit Vicknair, his father, Nestor Vicknair, Sr., and his mother Josephine Rome Vicknair. Mr. Vicknair is survived by his children, Melanie and husband, Neal Johnson; Diane Norton, Rhett Vicknair, Galen and his wife, Leslie Vicknair, and Nestor Vicknair III and his wife, Kim Vicknair; ten grandchildren Ashley Smith, Adam Norton, Elissa, Alec, Carley, Daniel, Morgan and Cole Vicknair, Megan Johnson and Rachel Johnson Arney; three great-grandchildren, Keagan and Piper Norton and Delila Smith; and his sister, Donna V. St. Louis, New Orleans, LA. Nestor served in the Naval Reserve for 20 years and received an honorable discharge from the US Navy. He is past President of the St. Thomas More Ushers Society and the Lake Sherwood Association. He served on the Board of the Krewe of Tucumcari and on the Azrock Floor Covering Distributors Council. Visitation at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East will be from 4:00 to 9:00 pm Monday, October 1 and on Tuesday, October 2 at St. Patrick Church from 9:00 to 11:00 am followed by Mass. He will be laid to rest at Greenoaks Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Adam Norton, Alec, Daniel, and Cole Vicknair, Michael Arney and Kevin McCants. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Catholic High School, St. Patrick Church or a charity of your choice.
