Milton Mellon Ourso, Jr., 73, passed away peacefully April 27, 2023. Born in Baton Rouge on December 21, 1949, Milton was a proud graduate of Catholic High School and attended LSU and Nicholls State University. Milton was beloved and respected throughout the community and had a broad spectrum of friends that spanned his many decades of business ventures, community involvement and outdoor adventures. He was a true American success story, earning his success through hard work, honesty and fairness. Milton’s various endeavors included a motorcycle shop, several decades building custom homes in the Baton Rouge region, owner/operator of an assisted living facility in Zachary and owner/operator of a daycare center. His generous disposition always looked for ways to help the less fortunate without need for public recognition. He served as President of the Sertoma Club of Baton Rouge and was Chairman of the Best Dressed Ball raising hundreds of thousands of dollars for the American Cancer Society. He was active with the Louisiana Homebuilders Association and the Louisiana Assisted Living Association, and was a volunteer coach for BREC little league football. Milton loved the outdoors, especially the family fishing camp in Pointe Fourchon where he has spent the better part of the past 15 years terrorizing speckled trout along coastal Louisiana. He was always there to lend a hand and offer advice, often whether you asked for it or not. Milton was organized, driven, competitive and loved life. He spent the past several years bravely fighting a diagnosis of Myelodysplastic Syndrome. He never backed down and maintained his dignity and strength through the very end. Above all, Milton loved his family. He was graced with the care and affection of his beautiful wife Diane. Milton and Diane’s love affair grew stronger with each passing year. Milton was also extremely proud of his son Trey as they had a uniquely special bond. He also welcomed Diane’s family as his own, always looking forward to time spent with Missy, Paul, Kristi and Brandon. But most of all, he was enthralled with his grandchildren, Kendall and Drew. They were his world. Milton is preceded in death by his parents, Wilma R. and Milton M. Ourso Sr. He is survived by his wife Diane Johnson Ourso; his son, Milton M. Ourso, III “Trey” (Cindy); his grandchildren, Kendall Elizabeth and Milton M. Ourso, IV “Drew”; his sister, Nedra Ann Loftin (Stoney); his brother, Daron J. Ourso (Faith); and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins who he dearly loved. Visitation will be held at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, 2250 Main St., BRLA, Thursday, May 4, 9:00 am – 11:00 am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am.
