Milton was born on March 25, 1928 in Forrest, Texas to Delbert Earl and Minnie Latham. Younger brother Delbert Thelston Latham preceded in death. Younger sister Etta Ruth Latham-Hughes resides in Lufkin, Texas.
Milton grew up and went to school in east Texas. He graduated from Stephen F. Austin University with a BS in mathematics and a minor in chemistry. Shortly after graduation, Milton served in the US Army during the later years of WW II.
Milton worked as a chemist for Allied Chemical at their Orange, Texas plant. Allied offered Milton a position at their newly constructed Geismar plant which he accepted in 1968. The family moved and found their current home in south Baton Rouge.
Much of Milton’s free time with family and friends was spent in the outdoors. He particularly loved fishing. The family spent many days fishing at Toledo Bend Lake in Texas and at Elmer’s Island, Louisiana. He purchased a fishing camp in Teriot, Louisiana where many a fishing tale was born.
In 1957, Milton married Shirley Ann Musselwhite and made their home in Orange, Texas. They had three children; Milton Wade Latham, Jr who resides in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Cynthia Ann Latham who preceded in death in 1982, and Bradford Earl Latham who resides in Abita Springs, Louisiana.
Grandchildren, born to his son Milton Wade Latham, Jr, married to Kathryn Joyce Bozeman, are Laura Elizabeth Latham-Jack (husband Cody Jack), Christopher Wade Latham, Emily Ann Latham-Oliver (husband Timothy Oliver), and Garrett Scott Latham. Great grandchildren born to Laura are Samuel, Isaac, and Lucy.
Grandchild, Alexis Layne Latham-Rogers (husband Jesse Rogers), born to Milton’s son Bradford Earl Latham, then married to Janette Arlene Lefore. Bradford has since re-married to Melissa Moffatt Elliott.
Visitation will be held at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd. Baton Rouge, on Friday, January 7, 2022 from 12:00 pm until funeral service time of 2:00pm. Interment will immediately follow at Greenoaks Memorial Park.
