Michael A. Teague, a beloved father, husband, grandfather and friend passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on Friday, January 28, 2022 at his home in the arms of his wife Denise. Mike was born on March 11, 1945, in San Bernardino, CA. He was preceded in death by his father USAF Lieutenant Edward F. Teague; his mother Kathryn Eatman Ahern and his stepfather USAF Major General Timothy I. Ahern. Dr. Teague is survived by his devoted wife Denise DeRiemacker Teague, his son Sean and wife Paige Teague; daughter Ashley and husband Joe Marckx, and son Travis and wife Amy Teague. Mike was an exceptional grandfather, “Doc Doc” to his six grandchildren: Tatum, Tilly and Tanith Teague, Drake Marckx, and Madison and Cinclare Teague. Mike also leaves behind his younger sister and only sibling, Bernadette Kathleen Ahern of Arlington, Virginia. Dr. Teague will be profoundly missed by his family, friends, and will be remembered as an adored husband, father, grandfather, and trusted friend. After graduating from East High in Madison, Wisconsin in 1963, Mike received both baseball and football scholarships to attend Tulane University, where he was a 1970 graduate of the Tulane University School of Medicine. Upon graduation, Dr. Teague completed an internship residency in Phoenix, Arizona followed by a general surgery residency at Charity Hospital in New Orleans. His plastic surgery residency was then served at the University of Utah Medical School, where Dr. Teague was Professor of Plastic Surgery for two years following completion of his residency. A co-founder of Associates in Plastic Surgery in 1978, which focused on reconstructive and cosmetic surgery, Dr. Teague was an accomplished physician for over 35 years. He was board certified in General Surgery as well as Plastic Surgery and had the honor of being nominated to the list of “Best Plastic Surgeons in Louisiana” by his peers. Mike followed many passions aside from medicine. Tennis remained a focal point for his competitive and athletic spirit fueled from a young age. Travel and hiking excursions were also two staples of Mike’s active lifestyle. He explored many countries with close friends during his lifetime and particularly enjoyed family trips to Orange Beach and San Diego. As sports remained a significant love of Mike’s life, he remained a long-standing fan of both LSU and Tulane baseball teams, in particular. Mike will be profoundly missed by all of his friends and remembered fondly as a beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend. He encouraged his family by example and touched many lives with his love, compassion, infectious smile, laughter, and generosity. Visitation will be held both Thursday, February 3, 2022 from 5-8 pm and Friday February 4 beginning at 11am with a service to follow at 1pm, at Rabenhorst Funeral Home 825 Government Street.
