"Born in Wellingbrough, England and a resident of Baton Rouge, Maureen Mitchell Gordon passed away on Thursday, June 1, 2017 at age 73. She was born August 15, 1943 to Alice Watkinson Mitchell and the late Dr. Benjamin E. Mitchell. She was preceded in death by her father and her loving husband of 48 years, L. Wayne Gordon. Visitation will be at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East Chapel, 11000 Florida, Blvd, on Tuesday, June 6, from 5 pm until 8 pm and resumes on Wednesday, June 7, from 9 am until religious services at 11 am. Maureen is survived by her mother, Alice Watkinson Mitchell of Pearland, TX; son, Brian W. Gordon and his fiancée Caroline Dupuis, both of Baton Rouge; granddaughter, Mary-Elizabeth Gordon of Baton Rouge; sister, Fern Mitchell Hanslik and her husband Kenneth, of Pearland, TX; brother, Dr. Benjamin S. Mitchell of Virginia Beach, VA; mother-in-law, Ena Watson Gordon of Baton Rouge; niece, Catherine Hanslik; and nephew, Christopher Hanslik. Maureen was a member of Broadmoor Baptist Church, a 1961 graduate of University High School, and a graduate of LSU where she was a member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority.
