Mary Frances 'Fran' Gilbert Stuckey, passed away Sunday, March 15th in Baton Rouge. She was a life-long English teacher during her husband's long military career, and after settling in Baton Rouge she taught English at Episcopal High School for many years before her retirement. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dewey Alexander Gilbert and Frances Inez Bass Gilbert of Bastrop, her older brother Larry Gilbert, and her two infant daughters Laura and Lisa Stuckey. She is survived by her older brother, Jimmy Gilbert, Sr, and her four children: Gilbert Scott Stuckey of Baton Rouge; Kathleen Kay Stuckey of Baton Rouge; Susannah Lee Spelman of London, England; and Mark Lewis Stuckey of Atlanta, Georgia. She is also survived by three grandchildren: Davis and Ava Stuckey and Alexandra Spelman, and by her nephew Jimmy Gilbert, Jr., nephew Larry Gilbert, niece Susan Gilbert Locascio, and their many children and grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 21st at 11:00AM at Rabenhorst Funeral Home at 825 Government St in Baton Rouge; the family will be receiving visitors starting at 10:00 AM. Interment will be held on Sunday, March 22nd in Greenwood Cemetery in Ruston at 2:00 PM. Memorials may be made to the ASPCA, Trinity Episcopal Church or the charity of your choice.
