MARY JOYCE OLINDE KELLEY, age 90, of Denham Springs, LA, passed away peacefully, Friday, May 26th, 2023, surrounded by family. Joyce was born in Hermitage, to Joseph and Lydia Olinde on September 14, 1932 and grew up in New Roads. She married Captain W.O. “Peanut” Kelley, (serving both the Baton Rouge City Police Dept. and the staff of Gov. Edwin Edwards as Colonel, of which she took great pride), they had six children. She was a Restaurateur and Pastor. She enjoyed LSU sports, fishing, bowling, cooking, music, singing, playing cards, studying/preaching religion and her family.
She is survived by her sons, Dennis Kelley Sr (Lesa), Michael Kelley Sr, Patrick Kelley (Linda) and Randall Kelley Sr., sons-in law, Henry and Glenn Miller. She was blessed with 17 Grandchildren, 30 Great Grandchildren, 1 Great Great Granddaughter and 1 Great Great Grandson arriving later this year, sister Dale Allement, brothers Gabe and James Olinde and her 2 precious God Sons, Lester Jr and Shane Olinde. She was also blessed with an abundance of nieces, nephews and other family members.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents Leo Joseph Olinde Sr. and Lydia Bueche, husband W.O. “Peanut” Kelley, daughters Marcia Miller and Susan Miller, grandson Dennis Kelley Jr, sisters Helen Haynes and Marie Sylvester, brothers John, Levi Sr., Eugene, Lester Sr., and Leo Jr. and daughter-in-law, Linda Jarreau Kelley.
Pallbearers will include Michael Kelley Jr., Randall Kelley Jr., Parker Kelley, Tanner Kelley, Jordan Tate and Christian Haggenmacher.
A visitation for Joyce will be held Wednesday, May 31, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM., funeral service to follow at 2:00 PM., officiated by Pastors Steve and Rita Chadwick, interment occurs after the service. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Greenoaks Life Celebration Reception Center - Greenoaks Memorial Park, 9595 Florida Blvd, Baton Rouge, LA.
A heartfelt Thank You to Bridgeway Hospice for the compassionate care provided to Joyce and her family during her final days, with special emphasis to Shana, RN and Megan, CNA, without whom this would have been an impossible journey. A special Thank You to Pastors Steve and Rita Chadwick for the years of friendship and fellowship they shared with Joyce along with her final earthly words of prayer.
