Mark Stephen Nassif passed away peacefully at his home on January 11, 2024. He was born in Bunkie, Louisiana on August 1, 1955. Mark was raised in Palmetto, Louisiana. After graduating from Palmetto High School, he attended Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge where he received a master’s degree in education. At age 20, he started his teaching career at Tara High School in Baton Rouge. He later taught at McKinley High School and eventually became coordinator of the Gifted and Talented program there. He later worked in the special education departments of East Baton Rouge Parish, Central School System and University View Academy.
Mark was preceded in death by his parents, Najah and Sara Nassif. He is survived by his husband, Michael Adams; his brother, Michael Nassif and his wife, Sue; his sister, Kergy Smith; nephews, Michael Nassif, Jr. and his wife, Jamie; Jason Nassif and his wife, English; Eric Smith and his wife, Natalie; Nicholas Smith; and niece, Amy Smith. He is also survived by great nephews Cody Smith and Newland Nassif as well as great nieces, Kinley Smith, Adeline Nassif, Clarissa Nassif, Phillipa Nassif and Winifred Nassif.
Visitation will be held at St. Joseph Cathedral in Baton Rouge from 9:00 a.m. until 10:30 on Monday, January 22, 2024, with funeral mass beginning at 10:30. Interment will follow the service at St. George Catholic Church Mausoleum in Baton Rouge.
