Mario George Marretta, born in Independence, LA and a resident of Central, LA, passed away on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, at the age of 101. He was a retired hairstylist barber and was owner of Mario’s Barber Shop. He was a veteran of WWII, serving in the Army Air Corps while stationed in Guam. He was a member of St. Alphonsus Liguori Catholic Church. He loved playing cards, fishing, and playing pool, as well as traveling and dancing. He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, George and Belinda Marretta; and three daughters and two sons-in-law: Mary Marretta, Faye and Michael Millet, and Debra and Barry Nelson, all of Central. He is also survived by six grandchildren: Maria Marretta Campbell, Amber Samaha and husband Timmy, Lucas Millet and wife Kayce, Chase Nelson and wife Ciara, Blair Millet, and Peyton Nelson and girlfriend Toni Guerin; as well as seven great-grandchildren: Christopher Campbell, Lucy Ann and Jonathan Samaha, Abram and Evangeline Millet, and Cameron and Carter Nelson. Mario is preceded in death by his loving wife, Ann Sinagra Marretta; parents, George and Maria Marretta; brothers, Vito and Henry Marretta; and sisters, Emily and Annette Sinagra. Visitation will be on Monday, March 3, 2025, at St. Alphonsus Liguori Catholic Church, 14040 Greenwell Springs Rd, from 9:30am until Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00am, celebrated by Rev. Michael Moroney. Entombment will follow at Roselawn Mausoleum. Serving as Pallbearers will be his three grandsons: Lucas Millet, Chase Nelson, and Peyton Nelson; and his four great-grandsons: Christopher Campbell, Jonathan Samaha, Abram Millet, and Carter Nelson. The family would like to thank the staff and residents of Central Guesthouse, especially Reda Cockerham, for their loving care and friendships.
