Louise G. Acklen

Louise was called to her heavenly home on Friday, September 23, 2022, at the age of 85. She was born in Simmesport, Louisiana, and resided in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Louise was strong in her faith and has been a longtime member of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church. She attended Baton Rouge Vocational Technical College for many years and worked as a book keeper and a receptionist until she retired. In her spare time she enjoyed to cook meals for her family. Louise was a loving and kind wife, mother, and grandmother that will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her loving husband of 33 years, Wayne Acklen; sons, Eugene Jarreau (Bridget) and James Jarreau (Susan); grandchildren, Joshua Jarreau, Jennifer Jarreau Harris, Jacob Jarreau, and Michael Jarreau; great-grandchildren, Emma Jarreau and Makenzie Jarreau; sister, Emily Bates (Thomas); and numerous nieces and nephews.

Louise is preceded in death by her parents, Saul Gremillion and Grace Bordelon Gremillion; sisters, Ella Mitchell, Blanche Ducote, and Gloria Bonnette.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Clarity Hospice of Baton Rouge.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Alzheimer’s Association.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation on Thursday, September 29, 2022, at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd. Baton Rouge; beginning at 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic church at 1:30 p.m. Interment will immediately follow at Greenoaks Memorial Park.
