Dusty was born December 2, 1946 to John Oren and Olivia Rhodes in Houston, Mississippi. He graduated from Mississippi College where he played on the baseball team. After graduation, he began his 40+ year career as a Sales Manager with Allstate Insurance Company.
Dusty was a devoted husband, father and friend to so many. To know him, was to love him. A close friend and neighbor, Lacy Crouch, summed up his personality and character beautifully. “Mr. Dusty was the wittiest man I have ever met. He was the master of the quick one liner. He was able to diffuse any room and put it to ease with his presence, sense of humor, warmth, and love for life and people. He was one of the most grateful human beings that I have ever encountered. He was a true gentleman to his core and he loved his wife and family more than anything. If you were lucky enough to have met him, no matter for how long or short, you are a better person for it”.
Dusty is survived by his wife of 46 years, Carol King Rhodes, their children Kelley Rhodes, Adam Rhodes (Rachel), and Angela Rhodes, grandchildren Rileigh, Dylan, Harper, Adley and Jonathan. He is also survived by his brother John Rhodes (Sandy), sister-in-law, Lois Rhodes, sister-in-law, Lucy King and nieces Roxanne Ellison (Scott), Kirby Rhodes, Bailey, Natalie and Ashleigh Rhodes, nephew Drew Rhodes (Madison), nephew Matthew King, and his loving and devoted dachshunds Shelby and Izzy.
Dusty was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Kenton Hayward Rhodes and Bart Harris Rhodes.

“For I am already being poured out as a drink offering, and the time of my departure has come. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith; in the future there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day; and not only to me, but also to all who have loved His appearing.” 2 Timothy 4:6-8.
