Julianne "Julie" Marie Nauta

Julianne “Julie” Marie Nauta passed away surrounded by family on Thursday, April 13, 2023, at the age of 66. She was a native of Baton Rouge, LA, and a resident of Denham Springs, LA. Julie was a passionate member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and a very spiritual woman who adored the Lord; He was her Savior. She enjoyed working with her church community. She was an avid journalist for most of her life, working in radio, television, and newsprint. Julie had one of the kindest hearts of anyone, and through that kindness, she touched the lives of everyone she met. She went through many walks of life and made countless friends along the way. Her door was truly open to anyone that needed a helping hand, which made her often referred to as “Mama Julie” by her “unspoken children”. Above all, Julie cherished the time she spent with her family, especially her grandchildren. Julie is survived by her children, William “David” Fisher (Jennifer Kate Marix-Fisher) of Greenwell Springs, LA, and Mary Elizabeth Christensen (Stephon Ruffin) of Cedar Rapids, IA; grandchildren, Cameron Michael Fisher (Ren) of Des Moines, IA, Luke Anthony Fisher of Gulfport, MS, and Dane Thomas Fisher of Greenwell Springs, LA; siblings, Anthony Andrew “Tony” Nauta (Beth), John Anthony “Jay” Nauta, Jr. (Jeannette), Paul Gerard Nauta (Pamela), and Roy Anthony Girard (Kim); brother-in-law, Lee Thomas Rice, Jr.; and a host of other loving family members and friends. Julie is preceded in death by her parents, John Anthony Nauta, Sr. and Anna Jean Michelli; sister, Michell Marie Rice; and sister-in-law, Jo Ellen Nauta. Visitation will be at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd., Baton Rouge, LA, on Thursday, April 20, 2023, from 5 pm to 8 pm. Visitation will resume at Greenoaks on Friday, April 21, 2023, from 9 am until the time of funeral services at 11 am. Burial will immediately follow at Roselawn Memorial Park, Baton Rouge, LA.
